Eilean Donan Castle & The Quiraing Elopement, Isle of Skye | Rose & Devin
This incredible elopement took place in one of Scotland’s most incredible locations - The Isle of Skye. If you’re still undecided on a location for your Scotland elopement, I highly recommend Skye. The variety and beauty of the landscapes is just unmatched, there are mountains, valleys, oceans, lochs, moors, beaches, villages, castles… and each one is unique and beautiful.
Rose & Devin travelled from the US to secretly elope in Scotland, a place that’s very special to their family. I met them in the morning at their airbnb on Loch Fada, where they helped each other to get ready for the day. We then fought through the midges (August in the Highlands means midges galore!!) to the car and travelled north to the quiraing to start exploring together. We spent the majority of the day just exploring the island and taking photographs of them (as well as video, I was working alongside my amazing husband Matt who has created an epic film of their day, you can watch it here!).
Once we were done exploring the north of the island, we headed south the Sligachan and trekked through the boggy grounds to the most incredible panoramic views of the Cuillins. It was simply stunning. We took a moment to breathe in the scenery before heading further south, just off the island to the epic Eilean Donan Castle for their ceremony which was conducted by Alyson Stewart, who did an amazing job and was such a joy to work with!
Their ceremony was full of joy, laughter, tears, and just beautiful moments of intimacy and togetherness. They embraced all of the Scottish traditions and I loved capturing them promise forever to each other.
We ended the day with some portraits around Eilean Donan Castle grounds and then ordered a Chinese takeaway for them to enjoy back at their airbnb on a Loch Fada on the Isle of Skye. What a way to celebrate!! It was just perfect :)
